When I was cruising along main street downtown Ventura around March of 2009 I noticed all the vacancies, many of which were from businesses that I did not know.  Some that went out of business that I could identify with were Bonnie’s, Links, and Bad Ass Coffee.

The word around town from other business owners was that business was tough, and if people did not come in and do more business locally soon there would be many more businesses in the dead pool.

As a local entrepreneur myself, I know that thousands of hours are invested by each one of these small business owners.  So you can imagine that I felt their pain.

The simple solution was that people just needed to visit local businesses more often and spend their money.

The obvious challenge with this simple solution is that people need help also. Cash is tight, and expenses are being watched very carefully.

A drastic solution was needed, a solution to help you, a solution to help the businesses, and a solution to help Ventura thrive!

The only way our community can thrive is if we have a healthy and prospering financial ecosystem.

In order to help our local businesses, they need more customers more often.  In order to attract more customers more often, there needs to be some motivation.

That's why we created Ventura Values.

The entire vision for Ventura Values is no small feat, and by no means could I (or would I ever want to) do it all by myself, so decided to share my idea and vision with my business partner James.

After brainstorming for a bit, we made my initial idea 100x better and we decided to go at this full force. Since then our team has grown by 3, and over 70 businesses have got involved so far, and many people in the community have gotten excited about what we are doing!
